General Information
History:
The Department of Food Sciences was established on a specific date with the aim of providing qualified and innovative education in its field, and has continuously updated its program by closely following the developments in the sector since its establishment. The department has achieved significant success in the field of food sciences with the projects and sectoral collaborations it has carried out to date, and has created a strong academic and research background by providing applied education opportunities to its students.
Department Program Outcomes:
Students who graduate from the Food Sciences program have strong knowledge and application skills in areas such as food safety, quality control, food engineering and research and development (R&D). Program outcomes aim to develop students' skills in analysis, problem solving, understanding sector needs and producing sustainable solutions. These competencies enable them to graduate as well-equipped food scientists who can develop innovative solutions in the sector.
Language / Type of Education:
The language of education of the Department of Food Sciences is and the type of education is offered as formal education. The department offers various education options for local and international students and supports the participation of students from different cultures. Depending on the language of the program, bilingual education or special course content for international students can be provided.
Infrastructure Opportunities:
The department offers well-equipped laboratories, application areas and high-tech equipment to best support the education and research activities of its students. Thanks to food analysis laboratories, quality control centers, R&D areas and other technical infrastructures, students can experience what they learn in class in practice and actively participate in research projects.

Double Major/ Minor Programs
Double Major Program: It allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and earn a diploma in both fields.
Minor Program: It allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete a minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean they have a second bachelor's degree.

Exchange Programs
It offers students the opportunity to study at another university in Turkey or abroad for a certain period of time. Thanks to these programs, students have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, develop their foreign language skills and gain international academic experience. The most common exchange programs include programs such as Erasmus+, Mevlana and Farabi.

Purpose and Objectives of the Department / Program:
Öğrencilerin gıda bilimleri alanında sağlam bir bilgi temeli kazanmalarını sağlamak ve onları sektörde yetkin profesyoneller olarak mesleki hayata hazırlamak. Disiplinler arası bilgi ve beceri kazandırarak, sektöre yenilikçi çözümler üreten bireyler yetiştirmek.

The department, which offers a strong academic structure with its current student profile, teaching staff and research projects, aims to grow even more in the future with innovative research projects and industrial collaborations. In line with its development plans, it aims to contribute to the field by conducting research aimed at the needs of the region and the country.
