About Us

The Department of Food Engineering started its education and research activities within the Faculty of Engineering in 2010. The department continues its education activities with a total of 2 academic staff, 1 Associate Professor and 1 Assistant Professor. 

In order to enter the Department of Food Engineering, foreign students are required to be successful in the central exam called Foreign Student Exam (YÖS). In addition, students are also accepted with amnesty.

The Department of Food Engineering consists of the main branches of Food Science and Food Technology. The Department of Food Engineering was established to conduct education and research in order to process food raw materials in the most appropriate way and evaluate them in the best way, to increase food diversity by making multifaceted use of raw materials, to preserve and market processed foods in terms of quantity and quality, to design, develop and control appropriate processes, and to realize the most efficient and healthiest production in food control, sanitation and management. Our department plans to provide education and training with an internationally accredited program.

In order to train qualified food engineers for today's conditions, it aims to provide education and training based on fundamental subjects such as Basic Engineering, R&D and Management, Food Production Technology, Design-Planning, Process, Quality Control, Food Microbiology, Hygiene-Sanitation, Food Preservation and Packaging. Our department, which plans to provide service within this scope, aims to train innovative, problem-solving and entrepreneurial Food engineers who use scientific methods in their working environments. In addition to providing safe, efficient and successful personnel to the food sector, our department has adopted the principle of providing services aimed at solving problems encountered in the sector.

What can I do when I graduate: 

When you become a food engineer, you can find job opportunities in various food-related sectors, both in our country and abroad, in engineer, consultant and manager positions. In addition, in the public sector, you can work as a teacher and expert staff or as an engineer in ministries such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Technology and Industry, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of European Union Affairs, and the Ministry of National Education.

In addition, in the private sector, employers can find employment opportunities in positions such as R&D Engineer, Process Engineer, Quality Control Officer, Laboratory Specialist, and Personnel with Mandatory Employment Status.
